At Aranya, we’re excited to announce our latest initiative aimed at supporting sustainable agriculture and boosting farmer incomes. We've launched a program to provide Tulda bamboo (Bambusa tulda) saplings to our members, marking the beginning of a green revolution that promises to transform both the landscape and livelihoods of rural farmers.
We recognized the potential of Tulda bamboo to address multiple challenges faced by our farmer members. This versatile plant can provide additional income, prevent soil erosion, and contribute to environmental sustainability. By introducing Tulda bamboo, we aim to offer our members a crop that complements their existing agricultural practices while opening up new economic opportunities.
Starting this season, we're making high-quality Tulda bamboo saplings from Assam available to all our farmer members. We're offering these saplings at a subsidized rate of Rs. 25 per sapling, ensuring they're accessible to farmers of all scales. Our goal is to get these saplings into the hands of as many of our members as possible, as we believe in the potential of Tulda bamboo to make a significant positive impact.
For a one-acre boundary plantation, the initial investment is as low as Rs. 1,300, with potential annual revenue of up to Rs. 42,000 after a 3-4 years first harvest cycle, plus additional income from value-added products.
We're thrilled by the enthusiastic response from our members. Many farmers are eager to try this new crop, especially given its potential to be grown along farm boundaries without interfering with existing crops. The prospect of diversifying their farm output while also addressing environmental concerns has resonated strongly with our community.
We are distributing saplings to farmer members of Dahod district. Aranya members see this as not just a new crop, but a new opportunity for sustainable growth. By providing these saplings now and planning for ongoing support, we're investing in the long-term success of our members.
While it's too early to measure results, we're optimistic about the potential impact of this initiative. Based on research and experiences from other regions, we anticipate increased farmer incomes through bamboo sales, improved soil conservation on member farms, enhanced farm biodiversity, and potential for value-added bamboo product development in the future.
We believe Tulda bamboo has the potential to transform our agricultural landscape, and we're thrilled to be at the forefront of this change. As the first Tulda bamboo saplings take root in our members' farms, they carry with them the promise of a greener, more prosperous future for our rural communities.
